Captain Willy Le

Willy or “Will” is a Full Time guide in the East Central parts of Florida “The Space Coast”. Born on the Island of Guam with a Vietnamese background, Will was 1 year old when he, his Mom, Dad, and 5 siblings moved to Orlando, Florida in 1980. He grew up fishing the surrounding lakes and ponds and the saltwater flats from Brevard County down to the Florida Keys.

It wasn’t until after he graduated high school that he really discovered his passion for sight fishing after he seen and caught his first tailing redfish in the Mosquito Lagoon. Every chance he got, he took his little 10’ aluminum jon boat powered by a make shift pushpole and went exploring for these hard fighting fish while at the same time studying their behavior and feeding patterns.

Til this day, Captain Will still fishes and explores every chance he gets, while still studying the behavior of all the inshore species that us anglers like to sight fish for like Redfish, Sea Trout, Black Drum, Tarpon, and Snook. With all this experience under his belt, Captain Will invites you to hop aboard his skiff to enjoy the wonderful fisheries that Florida has to offer!

How He Got Started Fly Fishing

Will started fly fishing shortly after he met fly fishing legends Flip Pallot and Chico Fernandez while working as a camera boat operater for one of Flip’s T.V. shows. He was so fascinated with the art of fly casting from watching the legends that he went and purchased a fly rod the next day and started to practice his fly casting. After years of practice and a few words of wisdom from Flip Pallot, Willy Le has become a well known fly fisherman/fly fishing guide.

Will can be found in popular saltwater fishing magazines and online publications whether it be an article about him or writing articles about the fishery. When he is not writing articles or on the water fishing, he can be found in the water surfing, shooting photos of whatever he finds interesting, or spending quality family time with his wife and 2 kids.

Captain Willy Le is known for his hard work on the poling platform. He will use the push pole all day long to locate fish and position the boat in order for his anglers to get that perfect shot at fish. Will is also known to be very patient with his clients and he DOES NOT yell at anyone for making bad casts…he may give you a hard time all in fun though 🙂
